I'm not sure if this is supposed to happen, or if my timer is just not working properly. I tried plugging headphones into the adapter to make sure that there was an output from the timer, and I only heard the beeps in the left ear, not the right one. For some reason, it's not getting detected by my computer. I have a 2.5mm male to 3.5mm female adapter plugged in to the timer, and a 3.5mm cable that connects the adapter to the computer.
